Good to know
Common uses: Blog posts, product pages, documentation, file names and any URL that should be readable and stable.
Practical example: Enter “Café & Résumé Tips for 2026!” to get “cafe-and-resume-tips-for-2026”.
Important limitation: Transliteration follows common conventions and may not match the spelling you prefer for names. Check important slugs by eye. Shorter slugs usually read better, but changing live URLs needs redirects.
For sensitive work, read the privacy information and follow your organization’s data-handling policy.
How it works
Text is normalised, accents are removed, other scripts are transliterated to Latin letters (or kept in Unicode mode), symbols such as & and % become words, and separators replace anything else.
Real-world uses
- Creating blog post or product URLs
- Naming files consistently
- Bulk-generating slugs from a title list
Tips for better results
- Keep slugs short and descriptive; remove stop words when it helps.
- Set a maximum length; it cuts at whole words.
- Use ASCII mode for the widest compatibility.
