WORKFLOW GUIDE

A practical image workflow

Keep the original image, decide where the result will be used, and select a format and dimension that fits that destination. Re-encoding can remove metadata and change quality, so review the downloaded copy before replacing the source.

Private, focused workflows

Image processing happens locally in your browser. The HEIC tool loads an open-source decoder from this website when needed, and your selected photos are not uploaded to a Use Everyday Tools server. Review each tool's limitations before using an output for an important decision or submission.

Which image tool do I need?

Resizing, compressing and converting solve different problems. Pick based on what is wrong with the image.

Frequently asked questions

Should I use JPG, PNG or WebP?

JPG suits photos, PNG suits graphics and transparency, and WebP gives smaller files for the web at similar quality. When unsure, WebP for websites and JPG for sharing.

How do I reduce image size without losing quality?

Resize to the dimensions you actually need first, then compress at a moderate quality (75–85%). Dimensions have more impact than quality.

Do these tools keep my photos private?

Yes. Images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.

Why does my transparent PNG get a white background?

JPG has no transparency. Keep the PNG or WebP format, or choose the fill color deliberately when converting.
