About this tool
Cropping trims white space so a scanned page fills the screen, or removes a header you do not want to share. You draw the box on a preview, choose the pages it applies to, and download the cropped copy.
Common uses: Trim blank margins from scans, exported slides, worksheets and reports, or frame pages for cleaner reading and printing.
Practical example: Preview a representative page, drag a crop region that keeps every important edge, then apply the same normalized region to pages with a matching layout.
Important limitation: The crop is based on the visible page boundary. It does not remove content objects from the file, and different page layouts may need separate runs.
The page previews and the cropped output are produced locally in your browser. Read the privacy information.
How it works
The visible page box is changed to the region you select, trimming the margins on the pages you choose.
Real-world uses
- Removing scanner borders
- Trimming margins to enlarge content
- Cropping a slide handout
What cropping a PDF does, and does not do
A PDF crop changes the visible page area. The content outside the box is hidden from view and from print, but it is not necessarily deleted from the file. If you are hiding something confidential, such as an address or an account number, use Redact PDF, which flattens the page so the hidden area cannot be recovered.
Use the same box only on pages that share a layout. A document with a title page, a table of contents and body pages usually needs two or three separate runs. Preview several pages before downloading to make sure no page edge cuts into text.
Cropping is a good first step before compression or page resizing, because smaller visible pages are easier to read on phones.
Tips for better results
- Use the same crop for scanned pages that share a layout.
- Cropping hides margins but may not delete the hidden content.
- Preview different pages for varying layouts.
Frequently asked questions
Can I crop different page sizes?
Yes, but the selected region is normalized from the preview page. Review mixed-size documents carefully before sharing the output.
Does cropping delete the original content?
No. It changes the visible CropBox in a new copy; keep the original if you may need to restore the full page.
Are my files uploaded?
The page previews and the cropped output are produced locally in your browser.
Does cropping remove content?
It trims the visible page area. Hidden content may remain in the file.
Can I crop pages of different sizes?
Yes, but the result may vary between pages; review them.
Does cropping remove the hidden part of the page from the file?
Not necessarily. It changes what is visible. For sensitive content use Redact PDF so the covered area is flattened permanently.
Can I crop pages that have different sizes?
Yes, but one crop box may not suit them all. Run the tool separately for groups of pages with the same layout.
Will the crop affect page numbers or links?
Page numbers printed inside the cropped area disappear from view. Links outside the visible box can no longer be clicked.
