About this tool
A scan that went through the feeder out of order, or an appendix that belongs at the front, is a thirty-second fix here. Thumbnails show every page, so you can see what you are moving instead of guessing from page numbers.
Common uses: Fix scan order, organize reports, place appendices after the main document or prepare pages for printing and review.
Practical example: Choose a PDF, drag the page cards or use the up and down controls, remove pages you do not need, then confirm the preview before downloading.
Important limitation: The organizer creates a new copy with the visible page order. Reordering does not edit text or repair damaged PDF pages.
Thumbnails are drawn and the new PDF is assembled in your browser; the document stays on your device. Read the privacy information.
How it works
Pages are copied into a new document in the order you set, and any pages you removed are skipped.
Real-world uses
- Fixing a scan batch that went through the feeder out of order
- Moving an appendix up front
- Dropping blank pages
Getting a long document into the right order
For big documents, work in two passes. First remove the pages you do not want, then reorder what is left; fewer thumbnails make the second pass quicker and less error-prone. On a phone, use the up and down arrows rather than dragging, which is more precise on a touch screen.
If you are rebuilding a document from several files, merge them first and then reorder, or reorder each file and merge afterwards. Both work, but doing it in the Merge PDF tool is simpler when whole files simply need to change places.
Reordering changes only the sequence of pages. It does not edit text, fix rotation, or repair damaged pages, and page numbers printed on the pages will not update; use Page Numbers & Headers if you want fresh numbering after the move.
Tips for better results
- Zoom thumbnails to be sure you move the right page.
- Remove blank or duplicate pages during the same pass.
- Re-number or add page numbers afterward if needed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I remove pages while reordering?
Yes. Use Remove on a page card, then keep at least one page in the new PDF.
Can I reorder pages on a phone?
Yes. The arrow controls are available alongside drag-and-drop so the workflow remains usable on touch screens.
Are my files uploaded?
Thumbnails are drawn and the new PDF is assembled in your browser; the document stays on your device.
Can I delete pages while reordering?
Yes.
Does reordering alter the content?
No. It changes order only.
Can I reorder pages on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The arrow buttons on each page card move it up or down without needing drag and drop, which suits touch screens.
Will printed page numbers update after I reorder?
No. Numbers that are already printed on the page stay as they are. Add new numbers afterwards with the Page Numbers & Headers tool if needed.
Can I duplicate a page?
This tool rearranges and removes pages; it does not duplicate them. To repeat a page, merge the file with itself in the Merge PDF tool and then delete what you do not need.
