About this tool
A JPG of a PDF page can go anywhere a picture can: a slide, a message, an email body, a web page or a social post. This page renders each page with the same engine that displays PDFs in your browser, so the images look like the pages, and it all happens on your device.
Practical example: Convert pages 2 to 4 of a report at High resolution to JPG, then drop the images into a presentation.
Important limitation: The output is a picture, so text cannot be selected, and very large pages at high resolution use a lot of memory.
Pages are rendered in this browser tab. The PDF is never uploaded. Read the privacy information.
How it works
The PDF is displayed by the browser’s rendering engine onto a canvas at the chosen scale, and each canvas is saved as a JPG.
Real-world uses
- Putting a page into a slide or chat message
- Sharing a page as a picture
- Creating thumbnails or previews of a document
JPG or PNG, and how sharp is sharp enough
JPG is the right choice when you want small files and the page is mostly photographs or scanned images. It is lossy, so text can show faint blur around the edges at low settings. For pages with a lot of small text, line drawings or tables, PNG gives crisper results at a larger file size. The PDF to PNG page does the same job with PNG preselected.
The resolution setting decides pixel size. Standard is enough for screens, High suits most documents, and Extra high is for print or reading tiny text after zooming. Each step up multiplies the file size roughly in line with the pixel count, so convert only the pages you need and avoid Extra high for long documents.
An image of a page is a picture. The words can no longer be selected, searched or copied, and links are gone. If your goal is editable or searchable text, use PDF to Word or PDF to Text instead. If your goal is a picture of the page for a slide or message, this is the right tool.
Large pages produce large images. A poster-sized page at Extra high resolution can be enormous, and a phone may struggle. Start with one page, check size and sharpness, then convert the rest.
Tips for better results
- Use PNG for text-heavy pages.
- Convert only the pages you need.
- Check the first image before converting a long range.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert only some pages?
Yes. Enter ranges such as 1-3, 6 in the pages box, or leave “all”.
Which resolution should I pick?
High for most documents. Standard for chat and small images. Extra high for print or very small text.
Is the text still selectable in the JPG?
