About this tool

When a page contains text, tables, charts or diagrams, PNG keeps every edge sharp, where JPG would blur it slightly. This page turns PDF pages into PNG images in your browser, which is useful for documentation, slides, support tickets and anywhere you need a precise picture of a page.

Practical example: Convert a one-page diagram at Extra high resolution to PNG for a printed poster insert.

Important limitation: Files are larger than JPG and the text is no longer selectable. Very large pages at high resolution use a lot of memory.

Pages are rendered in this browser tab. The PDF is never uploaded. Read the privacy information.

How it works

Each page is rendered to a canvas at the chosen scale by the browser’s PDF engine and encoded as a lossless PNG.

Real-world uses

Getting good PNG images from a PDF

PNG is lossless, so what you see in the PDF viewer is what you get, with crisp lettering and flat colors. The cost is file size: a full page at high resolution can be a megabyte or more, and a long document can produce a large set of images. If you want smaller files, use the PDF to JPG page, or lower the resolution.

Choose the resolution for the destination. For a slide, High is plenty. For reading small type after zooming, or for printing a page at its original size, use Extra high. Each step multiplies the pixel count, so test a single page first and look at it at 100 percent.

PNG pages are pictures, so text can no longer be copied or searched. If you need the text, extract it with PDF to Text, or if you need an editable document use PDF to Word. A PNG of a page is the right choice when appearance is what matters.

If a page has a transparent background in the source, such as a logo-only page, the render uses a white page background. For artwork with transparency, export from the original design file instead.

Tips for better results

Frequently asked questions

Why choose PNG over JPG for a PDF page?

PNG keeps text and line art sharp, with no compression artifacts, though the files are larger.

Can I get all pages at once?

Yes. Leave pages as “all” and download the images separately or together.

Will the text be searchable in the PNG?

No. The page becomes a picture. Use PDF to Text or OCR for text.

Why is my PNG so large?

High resolution and lossless storage create big files. Lower the resolution or use JPG if size matters.
